We proudly introduce a planned Backup feature, which helps customers to backup their data as frequently and precisely as they want.

Introducing Planned Backup: Reliable Data Protection Made Simple

Built on Robust Infrastructure

Our backup functionality is powered by Amazon EC2’s multi-AZ (Availability Zone) feature. This ensures your data is securely stored across multiple sites globally, providing unparalleled resilience and reliability.

What Does “Backup” Really Mean?

As defined by TechTarget, “Backup is the activity of copying files or databases so that they will be preserved in case of equipment failure or other catastrophes.” Backups are a critical part of operations for businesses of all sizes, providing peace of mind in the face of unforeseen data loss events.

Our Policy: Freedom and Independence

We believe in empowering our customers with choices. Our backup solution ensures that you can:

  • Create and customize backup strategies to suit your needs.
  • Leave the service anytime, retaining complete independence.

Whether you transition to another cloud provider or move to a private software solution, Cloudempiere ensures that your data remains secure and accessible throughout the process.

We want our customers to be (feel) free and independent from our service. They can leave this feature any time they want and continue with another cloud service or private software solution. Cloudempiere promises their customers reliable backup functionality on a daily, weekly, or another time basis.

How to Use the Backup Feature

1. Log In and Access the Backup Panel:
After logging into the Cloudempiere system, locate the [Backup Data] icon on your dashboard.

2. Set Up Your Backup Policy:
Customize your data retention strategy using either predefined backup schemes or by creating your own custom schedule.

3. Monitor and Manage Backups:

  • Backup Schemes: Define the format and processes for retrieving your data (e.g., SQL queries).
  • Backup Workflows: Set up periodic or one-time backup processes.
  • Backup History: Review detailed logs and instances of your stored data.

4. Backup Storage:

Once the backup process is complete, your data will be stored securely in an Amazon S3 encrypted bucket with an expiration date. A confirmation email, containing a ZIP file with all necessary security settings and XML data, will be sent to your registered email address.

After Receiving Your Data

Once you’ve downloaded your backup, consider these best practices:

  1. Store Safely: Save your data on local devices (e.g., CD/DVD, NAS drives) or with third-party cloud providers like Dropbox or Azure.
  2. Migrate or Process Data: Use tools to read XML files for migration or generating local reports.

Looking Ahead: Future Plans

As we continue enhancing the Backup feature, we’re exploring support for additional formats like JSON and CSV to give you more flexibility. While the initial release doesn’t support attachments, future updates will focus on expanding capabilities to meet your evolving needs.

Conclusion

With the new Cloudempiere Backup feature, we provide a simple, flexible, and robust solution for protecting your data. Whether you're securing your information for business continuity or planning for migration, our feature gives you peace of mind and full control over your data.
